FAQ

WHAT IS A IGG/IGM RAPID TEST?

THe COVID-19 IgG/IgM rapid test is a combined IgM-IgG antibody test for COVID-19 used to detect the presence of antibodies by coronavirus using a few drops of either serum, plasma, or whole blood.

HOW DOES THE COVID-19 IGG/IGM RAPID TEST WORKS?

The antibody test is performed through a simple procedure. With a simple fingerstick, a drop of blood is drawn with a pipette and deposited in the small filling opening of the test cassette. After a few drops of a so-called buffer solution have been added, the result can be read after 10 minutes. The lines show whether you may have IgM and/or IgG antibodies or no antibodies in your blood. The rapid test is for single use.

IS THE RAPID TEST SAFE?

Yes, the COVID-19 IgG/IgM rapid test is safe to use by medical professionals.

WHAT IS THE TEST IT'S SENSITIVITY AND SPECIFICITY?

The sensitivity of the test is 95%. Two weeks after infection, the sensitivity is even higher.

The specificity is almost 100%. The higher the specificity of a test, the better the test indicates healthy people as healthy. With a negative test result (only test line C), this almost always means that there is no corona infection.

WHAT DO THE DIFFERENT RESULTS MEAN?

A total of three detection lines are possible, the control with (C) line appearing when the sample has finished flowing through the cassette, indicating the test is complete.

The following are what the results mean:

  • Negative Result: If only the quality control line (C) appears and the detection lines G and M are not visible, then no novel coronavirus antibody has been detected and, the result is negative.

  • Positive Result, IgM only: If both the quality control line (C) and the detection line M appears, then the novel coronavirus IgM antibody has been detected and, the result is positive for the IgM antibody.

  • Positive Result, IgG only: If both the quality control line (C) and the detection line G appears, then the novel coronavirus IgG antibody has been detected and, the result is positive for the IgG antibody.

  • Positive Result, IgG and IgM: If the quality control line (C) and both detection lines G and M appear, then the novel coronavirus IgG and IgM antibodies have been detected, and the result is positive for both the IgG and IgM antibodies.

Immunoglobulin tests for COVID-19 cannot confirm the presence of the virus in your system. It can only tell whether you have been exposed in the past or if you have never been exposed to SARS-CoV-2.

WHY IS THE RAPID TEST ONLY FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS?

The CE marking of the test is only valid for use by healthcare professionals.
The healthcare professional is able to use the test properly and can interpret the result in combination with symptoms.

DOES THE IGG/IGM RAPID TEST REPLACE A PCR TEST

The IgG/IgM rapid test does not replace the PCR test.
The IgG/IgM rapid test should be used as a follow-up test and it a great tool for the exit lockdown situation.
